You can get into recovery mode by following these steps

For old devices:

  1. Hold volume down and power button together. After 5-10 seconds phone will enter shutdown mode.
  2. Once the blank screen appears, press power button and volume up button.
  3. Release the power button once you see Samsung logo on the screen but keep holding the volume up button.

In recent devices, polices has changed so you need to connect your device to computer using USB cable to enter recovery mode.

Extremely important point here is that the cable you use to connect to computer must support file transfer mode. If the cable doesn’t support file transfer mode, Samsung galaxy will not enter recovery mode.
